Ban Theatre was founded by Hüseyin Umaysız, Alan Ciwan and Hêja Netirk in 2019 in Hamburg. Among the aims of BAN Theatre is creating a Hamburg-based Kurdish theatre that can communicate with the professional art circles.

Ban Theatre also aims at looking at the world from its own perspective and carrying its cultural researches to the multidisciplinary and multilingual contemporary theatre scene. 

 

Besides, BAN Theatre aims at developing projects with professional Kurdish actors based in Germany and co-operating with German Theaters.

 

BAN theatre is also interested in experimental theatre in which the actors work on performative expression techniques. They use their bodies and cultural codes which are carried on their bodies in order to create a new language. The dialogues on the stage are made not only via the language but also by body movements and body memory. Actors try to create a new way of expression by pressing their bodies.
