Huseyin Umaysiz

Huseyin worked for years in the field of Kurdish Theater in the 1990s in Turkey, when the promotion of the Kurdish language or culture to the public was prohibited. He wrote and directed several theatre plays. This led him going to Belgium as a political asylum seeker in 1999. Umaysiz continues his passion for art and theatre as artistic director of the Theater Antract based in Brussel and Ban Theater in Berlin. In 2017, he directed "Hou vast! - Laat Los!", a play that combines theatre and performance and stepped into the professional Flemish theatre world. In 2018, he toured various theatres in Limburg, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Istanbul with this play. Umaysiz, one of the artists of the artistic Platform 0090 in Belgium, is curious and researches the effects of performances under the pressure of the body, vibrations that turn into sound, movements and rituals in the rhythm of time.
